Application Methodology :
Step no 1: Surface Preparation
The base must be clean and free from loose particles. Unsound areas should be removed until sound concrete is located. Any cracks, pot holes etc, should be properly sealed and cured. The surface to be treated should be free from all coatings, dust and unsound concrete toppings. The unsound parts should be chipped off to arrive at sound surface. Smooth substrates must be mechanically roughened/ abradede.g. by scrabbling, needle gun or grit blasting to provide an adequate key. Corroded reinforcing steel should be exposed around its full circumference and cleaned to remove all loose scale and corrosion deposits. It is always preferably to clean the steel to a bright condition, by use of emery cloth, grit or sand blasting, use of ReArm Rust Remover/ReArm Rust Converter is recommended.
Step no 2: Priming
Reinforcing steel must be primed with ReArm Coat ZPimmediately after cleaning with water. The concretesubstrate should be thoroughly dampened with water andany excess water should be removed. Surface to be primedby thoroughly scrubbing in a slurry coat of 1 volume ReArmBond SBR 1.5 to 2 volumes fresh cement. In order to obtain a smooth consistency, the cement shouldbe blended slowly into the liquids. Stir frequently during useto offset settlement. Avoid ‘poddling’ of the slurry coat. The Topping must beapplied on to the wet slurry. If the slurry dries out it must beremoved and the clean substrate be primed.
Guideline for Application:
Prepare surfaces thoroughly. Toe-in at edges wherever possible to avoid feather edging. All surfaces including edges must be primed. All applications should be wet on wet; the primer must not be allowed to dry. The level of added water in the mix designs may need to be adjusted to achieve the required consistency. In general water content should be kept to the minimum necessary. For consistent performance the use of clean, dry river sand is recommended. Where wet sand is used, reduce the added water level as appropriate. In order to prevent rapid drying, mortars should be covered with wet hunch bag uncured mortar from frost. Minimum application temperature is 100C. For permanently immersed conditions consult Local MYK Arment representative

Surface Preparation
The surface has to be loadable and clean. Paints, brittle plaster, screed etc., have to be removed up to the solid ground (concrete, masonry). Dry areas have to be wetted. For interior sealing light weight blocks have to be pretreated with a loadable cement plaster. Sealing of aerated concrete blocks or elements is not possible
